There could not be a happier moment for a classical music lover. Pt Bhimsen Joshi – the maestro of Hindustani Vocal classical music has been selected for Bharat Ratna – India’s highest civilian award this year. Even though unfortunately I have never had a chance to listen to his divine vocal performance live, I am extremely proud today to see him honored by the government with this award.
